Like most South African cities, public transport in Pretoria is not a particularly easy way to get about. Buses are infrequent and the most common form of transport for locals are the largely unroadworthy minibus taxis. That said, car hire and taxis in Pretoria are fairly cheap. Due to its close proximity to Johannesburg, Pretoria is also well set up in terms of national connections, with long distance buses and trains linking into the city. Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria / Tshwane

Originally constructed in 1906, Pretoria’s Loftus Versfeld Stadium is amongst South Africa’s oldest stadiums. The venue has hosted countless sporting events in its lifetime and has undergone extensive renovations over its century lifespan to increase the capacity to 49,365 from the original 2,000. Loftus Versfeld Stadium also saw the first Bafana Bafana victory over European opposition when in 1999 South Africa defeated Sweden 1-0. (more…)
