Attractions in Port Elizabeth do not come with the glitz and glam that can be found in other South African cities, but are worth the trip all the same. Things are rather more down-to-earth here, with the great natural beauty and interesting history displacing the need for non-stop entertainment. There are some great museums and stunning parks and gardens to be explored here as well as lion cubs to cuddle and whales to watch. Extra bus services will be put on for fans and trains will be increased. It is also possible to rent cars and minibuses in Port Elizabeth, which is a favourite way to get around for most tourists. The Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium is the first stadium in Port Elizabeth dedicated solely to the beautiful game. Situated on the picturesque shores of the North End Lake and with a capacity of 46,082, Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium is already a focal point for the community and a source of pride for city residents. Completed one year before the tournament, Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium is due to host eight matches in total including the third place playoff between the two unlikely semi-final losers. (more…)
