Shopping in Nelspruit may not possess the glitz and glam that are so evident in other South African cities, but there’s plenty here to satisfy those with a need to splash some cash. Some even come from Johannesburg to shop in Nelspruit as it is home to some great independent shops and farm stalls around Lowveld. There is also a couple of modern malls and some smaller Nelspruit shopping centres around the White River Road area. Like many South African cities, most of the tourist attractions in Nelspruit centre around the great outdoors. Nelspruit is a city on the rise with the spanking new Mbombela Stadium indicative of the fresh spirit the city has acquired since South Africa was awarded the 2010 World Cup. After matches there are a few Nelspruit nightlife spots worth looking into and most tend to do above average grub as well. Most Nelspruit pubs and bars will have televisions showing all of the live games so you will never have to miss a second of the action to get your fix of ice cold Castle lager. There may not be the array of entertainment venues in Nelspruit to rival the larger cities of South Africa, but this small town more than makes up for it in natural wonders and spirit. The Kruger National Park keeps most visitors entertained, with a teeming mass of wildlife and rural adventure. There is a casino outside of town which provides 24 hour entertainment in Nelspruit for those that like a flutter. And there’s also a cinema where the latest movies from around the world can be viewed in comfort. But when you’re not watching the football it’s probably best to be social and down a few beers in some local bars to while away your time in town. (more…)

Although most tourists come to this city to see the wild animals of the Kruger National Park, there are also some remarkable beasts to be enjoyed on the plates of Nelspruit restaurants. Meat and game often the stars and although you wont find a lion on the menu, you may need one’s appetite to do justice to the tremendous eateries found here.
This is definitely meat eaters territory. And while you can find seafood in some restaurants in Nelspruit, there really isn’t much point this far from the coast when there are so many other goodies around to take advantage of.
