The city of Johannesburg in South Africa’s central Gauteng province promises to be an excellent host for fans travelling to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. Getting to Johannesburg – transport, bus, train & car hire

Let’s not pretend that Jo’burg is the easiest place in the country to navigate. There’s terrible traffic and security in public transport depots can be a problem. That said, there are a few tips that can make getting around the city a much easier task and lessen the risk of anything bad happening en route. Ellis Park Stadium in Johannesburg

With a grand history including being the site of South Africa’s famous Rugby World Cup victory against the All Blacks in 1995, Johannesburg’s Ellis Park Stadium is never going to be intimidated by its larger cousin to the south-west. Ellis Park Stadium is situated slap bang in the middle of Jo’burg and so is easy to reach from any part of town. Historically a rugby venue, Ellis Park has begun to host many important football matches such as the Confederations Cup final in 2009 between the USA and Brazil. (more…)

It is little wonder why Soccer City in Johannesburg was chosen to host the 2010 World Cup final, Without doubt one of the most aesthetically-pleasing football venues in the world, this 90,000 seater Goliath is quite rightly the focus for this year’s tournament. The design of Soccer City in Jo’burg is modelled on the iconic African cooking pot called a calabash, and it will certainly become a caldron of atmosphere on June 11 when the hosts face Mexico in the opening match.
